Another chapter in the success of Alfa Klebstoffe AG was written on April 19. 2002, when we broke ground for the building of our company in Rafz. Exactly 30 years before, Emil Simmler had founded the company in the small idyllic village of Buchberg. But the company grew so quickly that enlargement was necessary to meet the increasing demands. The enormous growth in turnover required the expansion of our production plant and the intermediate storage rooms. In 1990 when SIMALFA® became patented as an adhesive for solvent-free bonding in foam fabrication, a revolution in this industry began. Together with our American partner, we proudly acknowledged the fact that we were markt leaders in this field. Other patents followed in our pioneering developments such as ALFAPLAN® a lay flat lamination adhesive for the paper industry and ALFAST®, an extremely fast dispersion adhesive for industrial book-binding.In our innovative company we are presently working on removable dispersion adhesives, usable on postcards, advertising supplements on installations, inter office tags, circulation slips, wherever the use regardless of the surface, there should be no residue. Our first extremely successful endeavor is in the poster industry. Posters that were glued on a surface in the usual way with our new adhesive, were taken down after several weeks and there was no remaining residue. We are also working on a promising dispersion base glue for note tags,“post-its for example, which has successfully passed its first test.
Our new building will house our many new developments and help ensure a healthy and successful future for our company.
Another highlight in our succes story is the SIMALFA 800 series for roller application. Originally in Japan and then later with a local machine salesman, a roller aggregate was developed. This glue was carefully and gently rolled onto the foam and proved to have a very high immediate bonding effect in addition to other qualities. This roller application makes it possible to effortlessly produce a great number of foam mattresses – especially the contour models. The advantage of this glue is that it is only applied to the elevated parts of the foam, thus saving up to 75% of the adhesive. Our latest developments will be presented at numerous international exhibitions every year.
